The Business Model of MyVideo
MyVideo was originally a German language video portal comparable to YouTube, which was later transformed into an information portal and most recently operated by maxdome GmbH in Munich, a wholly owned subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE. Before it was discontinued at the end of September 2017, MyVideo provided background information and trailers on current cinema films and computer games and promoted content from maxdome's commercial offering. On 2 May 2016, the website was transformed into an advertising portal without prior notice. As part of this restructuring, all video content was removed from the website, the app offering was discontinued and some of the staff were made redundant. Since then, the offer was managed by maxdome GmbH in Munich and their offer was advertised in the series and films section.
From January 2017, films and TV series from maxdome's offering could be rented or purchased via the MyVideo store on a fee-based single-demand basis; the offering was discontinued in favour of the maxdome store with an announcement on 22 August 2017 and completely discontinued at the end of September 2017.
