The Business Model of OnlyFans
OnlyFans is an online platform, app and content subscription service. It was founded in London in 2016 by British tech entrepreneur and investor Timothy Stokely. OnlyFans is a platform where content creators can provide exclusive content for which their target audience can pay premium prices. A paywall allows creators to protect or block their content, fans can access this content for a monthly fee or a one-off amount. A monthly subscription fee of between $4.99 and $49.99 gives a person access to the exclusive content. 80% of the revenue remains with the creators themselves, but OnlyFans retains 20%. Compared to other services like Instagram, the website offers creators a way to profit directly from the use of the platform.
